WHY CATHOLIC? is an adult formation program based on Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It is called a journey through the catechism. It offers a concrete approach to help adults deepen their Catholic faith and connect its teachings to their everyday lives. Learning in a small community setting is encouraged.
There are four themes for Why Catholic? Each theme is studied for six weeks in the fall and six weeks in the spring with a parish or diocesan retreat at the end of each theme. These are the themes:
Book One: The Profession Faith: What We Believe
Discover the basic truths of our faith and how they connect with our daily living
Book Two: The Celebration of the Christian Mystery: Sacraments
Appreciate the richness of the Mass and see the sacraments as doors to the sacred
Book Three: Life in Christ: Walking With God
Explore the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes as sources for moral wisdom and as blueprints for living the Christian life.
Book Four: Christian Prayer: Deepening My Experience With God
Experience different forms of prayer as ways to grow more deeply in our relationship
Sign-up Sunday will be September 10th and 17th. There will be multiple choices of dates and times.
Fall sessions begin the week of October 8th for six weeks.
