Would that all the people of the LORD were prophets! The desire Moses expressed to Joshua has come true in Jesus Christ. Through our Baptism, we have all been chosen as prophets of the Lord. A prophet does not just say words, such as lectoring at Mass or quoting the Bible. The prophetic life is about revealing the truth of word of God to others. That is, it is about living with integrity and promoting justice. For example, when a Catholic promotes the right to life and votes pro-life and contacts his or her congressman to do the same. Or when a Catholic treats others fairly at work or school, even if those others act like enemies. Those are just some of the ways to fulfill our Baptismal call.
